The ACE Basin (Ashepoo-Combahee-Edisto) is one of the largest undeveloped estuarine ecosystems on the U.S. Atlantic Coast, located in South Carolina's Lowcountry, named for the three rivers that converge there
We will start the morning at Bear Island to photograph sunrise and the Tundra Swans at Mary's Pond. Then we will move on to Donnelley Wildlife Refuge not too far away.
(At Donnelley WMA it is required that visitors wear international orange this time of year)

Presentation is one of the 12 Elements of a Merit Image. It puts the finishing touches on your artwork. Artist images are presented in a slightly different manner from those entered in Photographic Open. Join Connie Sanders as she demonstrates several techniques for creating mats for images that will be entered in Artist categories. Even if you don’t plan to enter Artist, you might learn a Photoshop trick or two!
Be sure to register in order to get the link to the Zoom meeting.

When you drive south on Paris Avenue, look to the left and you will see the entrance to the Port Royal Cypress Wetlands. Its sweeping views of the wetlands and a dedicated wooden amphitheater and boardwalk invite you to begin your exploration.

We will meet at 8:45 in the parking lot Audubon Center at Beidler Forest (336 Sanctuary Rd #3324, Harleyville, SC 29448). Everyone will be responsible for their own entry fee (In Person is $12 and they do offer a small discount if purchased online ahead of time (Purchase Tickets). For anyone new to this type of photography we will go over some tips and tricks before entering so that everyone can have a chance at getting a great image. We will depart from there for a walk on the 1.75-mile elevated boardwalk through a hardwood forest and swamp. Our targets to photograph will be Prothonotary warblers, who are currently nesting, and other birds that might still be migrating through the area. You never know what you might see as you go through the forest and swamp; owls, otters, deer, snakes and wading birds are all known to frequent the area.
